Bodegas Sierra Cantabria, Rioja Cosecha: This 1976 Sierra Cantabria Rioja with nearly fifty years of maturation is an exemplary aged Rioja. This treasure has kept both tannins and acidity in the mid range allowing the wine to show off its beautiful texture and lift. At the same time its evolution now expresses with profundity the nuances we lovers of old wines admire. In the case of this bottle, there was bouquet of dried violets, sandalwood, milled herbs, light toast, saddle leather, wet tobacco, mild cherry and plum. To speak of its range, it stood up very well to tapas as well as medallions of cooked Iberico pork. This is a stunner of a bottle I soon will not forget.
